Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. There are different branches of psychology, such as cognitive, forensic, social, organisational and developmental psychology. People experiencing conditions that affect their mental health may benefit from assessment and psychological treatment processes.

Counselling

Counselling is the practice of mental health, psychological and human development principles through cognitive, affective, behavioural and systematic interactions, strategies to address mental health problems, wellness, personal, growth and development as well as pathology. It involves exploration, assessment and evaluation of presenting problems and treatment. It is a therapeutic relationship of trust and confidentiality that occur between a registered and qualified therapist and a client / patient.

Mental Health Disorders

Mental disorders are characterised by issues that a person experiences in their mind (thoughts), mood (feelings / emotions) and actions (behaviour). The causes are not well understood by many people but the symptoms are scientifically validated, confirmed and categorised in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for Mental Illness – DSM – V. The treatment process for mental health problems includes psychotherapy and meditation. Mental health problems affect both children and adults.
